Building Self Esteem

Building Self-Esteem

Why is it important to build self-esteem? Self-esteem is a critical factor of our happiness and wellbeing. With low self-esteem, we can compare ourselves to others, engage in negative self-talk, and lack self-worth or self-respect. Embrace who you are by understanding your past, and making intentional choices to raise your self-esteem.

In this full-day workshop, you will learn about the characteristics of self-esteem, self-defeating behaviours, and setting healthy boundaries. This could be the first step you need in becoming seen and respected as the strong individual you are inside.

Who Can Attend?

Anyone aged 18 or over who has a desire to build their self-esteem or confidence

What you will learn?

You will build skills to enhance your self-esteem by understanding:

  • Self-esteem and its characteristics, and ways to develop high self-esteem and self-confidence
  • The signs and causes of low self-esteem
  • Self-defeating behaviours and how to combat them
  • How our past experiences impact our brain and who we are
  • Ways to set healthy boundaries and practice self-care

By the end of the course, you will feel more comfortable:

  • Identifying personal traits to address specific issues, such as positive self-esteem, healthy boundaries, self-confidence, stress management, and emotional triggers
  • Engaging in positive self-talk and appreciating your positive qualities

When and where is it offered?

  • The class is available as a group workshop or a private class.
  • The group class is offered several times per year. Scroll down for upcoming dates.
  • You can attend this class online or in person at our office at 9912-106 Street, Edmonton.
  • In our group workshops, you will have many opportunities to ask questions, learn about yourself and your family, hear others’ experiences, and practice new skills. Many people who attend our workshops say they feel better after attending because they realize that they are not alone.
  • In a private class, you will receive the same amount of information as our group workshops, condensed into 3 hours with the facilitator. These are ideal for individuals or couples who want to get started sooner than the next group workshop, can’t attend the group workshops due to work schedules or other personal commitments, or simply prefer a more private setting.

How much does it cost?

Group workshop: $150 per person

Private session: $325 per person

We are dedicated to supporting families of all income levels. We offer a subsidy for attending the group workshop for this class, thanks to funding from the City of Edmonton Family and Community Support Services.

If needed, you can apply for a subsidy by selecting one of the subsidy options in the registration form.

Please note, these subsidies are available for individuals registering themselves for a class.
