Becoming a strong leader starts with a better understanding of yourself and creating a work environment that is safe, empathetic, and resilient. We’ve been running these trainings, as well as doing the front-line work, for 80+ years and training up our team with what we’ve learned. Learnings will continue to evolve alongside what happens in the community. Join us for relevant, convenient internal training to become a better leader.

Building Effective Leaders

This course consists of four individual 3-hour workshops. In this introductory leadership course, participants will learn that effective leadership begins with an understanding of yourself. These sessions will give participants the skillset to grow into strong leaders, mentors, and coaches within their organization. This course is designed with a clear purpose: to increase the expertise needed to lead effectively, no matter the participant’s place in the organization. Leadership is not just for those with fancy titles—it's for anyone looking to step up and make a difference.

We believe that becoming a great leader starts with a better understanding of yourself. Participants will use resources such as Discover Your Strengths/Clifton’s Strengths Finder 2.0, the Emotional Intelligence Skills Inventory, 16 Personalities, and the Enneagram Personality Test to develop their own unique leadership style and vision.

Building Trust and Resilience Through Relationship-Based Supervision

In this 3-hour workshop, participants will acquire the tools and skill sets necessary to become effective leaders within their organizations. By embracing trauma-informed values and adopting relationship-based supervision models, they will cultivate environments of trust, empathy, and support. Acknowledging the diverse past experiences of their staff members, participants will gain insight into how these experiences may influence their work with their service users. Participants will be equipped to intervene proactively to avoid burnout, fostering a culture of well-being and resilience.

Participants will develop essential skills to ensure that their teams can thrive in even the most challenging circumstances. Through this comprehensive approach, participants will not only enhance their leadership capabilities but also contribute to supporting their agency’s service users through an effective supervision model.

Mastering Effective Coaching Conversations

Through this 3-hour workshop, participants will develop the skills needed to empower individuals to find solutions to the difficulties they are facing and to provide ongoing encouragement and support while they do so. From establishing a rapport and setting clear objectives to active listening and providing constructive feedback, participants will learn to seamlessly integrate the essential components of coaching conversations into their interactions with peers, staff, and service users.

By mastering these principles and techniques, participants will not only enhance their coaching skills but also contribute to a culture of growth, development, and empowerment within their organizations.

Performance Management Strategies: Accountability, Clarity, and Empowerment

In this 3-hour workshop, participants will engage in a comprehensive review of the supervisory strategies needed to foster accountability, enhance clarity, and empower their employees to improve their performance. Through this immersive experience, attendees will not only grasp the importance of these tools but also understand their practical application in real-life scenarios. This workshop will explore effective courageous conversations – a vital skill set for any leader aiming to navigate challenging situations with finesse and empathy.

By the end of the session, participants will emerge equipped with a robust skillset and new-found confidence to inspire and motivate their teams, fostering a culture of best practices and accountability so their staff can better support service users.

Principles of Trauma-Informed Supervision

In this 3-hour workshop, participants will engage in an in-depth exploration of the five values of trauma-informed care, examining their critical role in fostering safe and effective supervision practices. Through this workshop, attendees will gain an understanding of how these components intersect with and enhance the supervisory process. Participants will develop a proficiency in nurturing the growth and development of their staff. Additionally, they will learn to assess their supervisees' quality of life in relation to their work, ensuring a holistic approach to staff well-being and professional growth.

By nurturing qualities such as humility, hunger, and emotional intelligence, participants will foster cohesive, high-performing teams.

The content presented in this workshop is based on the Creating Cultures of Trauma-Informed Care model (CCTIC) developed by Community Connections.

Situational Leadership: Enhance Your Decision-Making

Utilizing the Skill/Will matrix developed by Max Landsberg as a navigational tool, participants of this 3-hour workshop will gain insights into prioritizing their decision-making processes. Through the application of effective techniques, attendees will develop the ability to assess the significance and immediacy of various situations they encounter, thereby enhancing their decision-making prowess.

Leaders participating in this workshop will engage in hands-on exercises aimed at refining their supervision skills. By leveraging the appropriate supervision style, they will skillfully tailor their approach to meet the unique behavioural and performance requirements of each individual they support. Through practical application and experiential learning, leaders will emerge equipped with the versatility and acumen necessary to foster growth and success within their teams.
